"0": "By Tarnak Cupperblade, Paladin of Torm\n\nIt probably was not the first attack ever, but it was the first since us adventures begun to arrive at Pilgrim's Rest. I decided to write about this event, as it shows much of the political situation Pilgrim's Rest is in.\n\nThe orcs came to the town from all the entrances. Most adventures rushed to the front gates and to the Northern passage, and despite all the common sense, most thought it was a good enough to defense. However for once the orcs outsmarted us adventures. The main force entered town through the mines, and when the orcs were found inside the village walls all defenses broke down, and everyone just ran around looking for something to attack. I personally went after the priests of Bane that came with the orcs. After dealing with the priests, I head directly to the mine entrance to stand guard.\n\nWhen the town had been retaken and more defenders had arrived at the mine entrance I decided to enter the mines. The other adventures had the same idea, so I joined forces with a total of five or six people, some of whom I later came to know as friends. \n\nWe made short work of the orcs left and we only lost one in our party, peace to his soul. The leader of the orcs, a shaman, came out but did not seem like he planned to attack us. Most of us just wanted to kill him, but a female elf took charge of the situation and questioned him.\n\nWhat we learned was disturbing indeed. The orcs had been hired to attack town by the Zhents, which was a sort of plan that Zhents had done before, at other dales. We also learned that the orc clan warriors were either death or injured, and seemed to had no more will to fight for the moment, and that we had just missed the Zhent agents who had organized the attack. From the mines we directly went back to the town with the news, and immediately set out towards the Three River's Way, and to a taxing operation the Zhents had going on at the bridge.\n\nThe commander leading the group at the bridge, insulted several of our gods in our attempt to negotiate, among them Torm, who I follows. While I was ready to overlook the insults, a half-orc took the insult of Tempus closer to heart and attacked. The rest of us followed his lead.\n\nI pursued the commander in fearsome duel. However, I was constantly intercepted by lower ranking Zhents, which made my battle quite a difficult one. By the end of the day were however victorious. I know that many fell that day, and were dragged back to the temple where most were fortunately able to be revived by the clerics. Of fifteen of us, I was the only one still standing on his own two feet by the end of the battle, even if I too was gravely to wounded.\n\nWhile the Zhents were pushed back closer towards Brighthaven, the lesson that we learned that day seems to have been forgotten. I am writing this in the hope that others may learn from it, so the price of wisdom does not have to be paid for over and over again. I will leave it up to you to decide what is the lesson, my readers."
