"0": "Mask is the god of rogues, thieves, and is the lord of shadows. He appears as a lithe man garbed in dark clothing and a cloak of shadows. He always wears a black velvet mask, tinged with red; this has also become his symbol. A former Intermediate power, Mask suffered a major loss of power, and the portfolio of intrigue, during the Cyrinishad fiasco. Mask makes his home in the Plane of Hades. His domain there is known as Shadow Keep.\n\nAll that occurs within shadow is in the purview of Mask. Stealth and wariness, it is believed, are virtues, and the writings of a true follower of Mask can be read in many ways. In addition to thieves and more shadowy individuals, courtiers and diplomats have been known to evoke the god's name in hopes of guaranteeing a smooth negotiation.\n\nMask's church is essentially similar to a network of thieves' guilds. In large cities with several guilds, his temple is often connected to each guild by secret passages. Mask's church promotes stealth over open confrontation, leading the more gullible to believe that Mask is dead. A wealthy religion, the church of Mask uses its resources to pay agents, sway agreements, and manipulte people. Its memebers spend their time nurturing plots and supporting theive's guilds and individual thieves.\n\nClerics of Mask pray at night in darkness or in shadows. At least once a month each major temple performs a Ritual of the Unseen Presence, involving hymns, chanted verse, and offerings of wealth acknowledging Mask's constant scrutiny of all deeds, no matter how well hidden."
